The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM) has offered its support for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during the formation of the cabinet.
According to sources, at a meeting between MQM representatives and the PML-N coordination committee, the MQM expressed a desire to join a coalition with the PML-N for the greater national benefit.
A preliminary document outlining the government formation was provided to the MQM for consultation with its leadership. Another meeting between the MQM and the PML-N coordination committee is planned for further discussion.
The MQM group, which included Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori, Mustafa Kamal, and Dr. Farooq Sattar, met with Ishaq Dar, Ayaz Sadiq, and Muhammad Ahmed Khan of the PML-N negotiation committee at the latter’s invitation.
According to the MQM spokeswoman, the discussion focused on developing a collaborative plan to solve the nation’s difficulties, particularly those affecting Sindh inhabitants. The MQM has agreed in principle to the PML-N’s three-point constitutional plan for inclusion in the government, subject to approval for the proposed amendments.
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of establishing constitutional safeguards for the devolution of powers and resources to the grassroots level in order to address the country’s difficulties and navigate it out of crises.
In casual statements to journalists, Governor Sindh Kamran Tesori stated that the MQM has pledged its full support to the PML-N in government formation. An official announcement about this relationship is scheduled to be made today.
