LAHORE: Senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who is incarcerated, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, contested in the election tribunal on Tuesday the win of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in the NA-130 seat during the February 8 countrywide polls.
With the assistance of her attorneys, Ahmed Awais and Rana Mudassar, Rashid filed a petition against the former premier with the election tribunal.
In her plea, she claimed that the Pakistani Election Commission (ECP) had broken the law when it announced Nawaz’s victory.
The Imran Khan-founded party’s politician stood in the general elections of 2024 from the NA-130 (Lahore XIV) seat, but she was defeated by the PML-N’s leading candidate, who received 171,024 votes, while the former received 104,485 votes. The PTI leader asserted, however, that the results were tampered with to benefit the PML-N leader, which is why she lost the election.
