K-Electric’s (KE) electricity distribution and supply licenses have been extended by the National Electric electricity Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a further 20 years.
This non-exclusive license renewal comes after KE requested one prior to the power sector’s liberalization.
In July 2023, KE’s prior 20-year license came to an end.
Following that, NEPRA granted KE a six-month temporary distribution licence, which was about to expire in January 2024.
The decision to renew came after a thorough hearing that was finished on November 28, 2023. Following the hearing, Nepra has given K-Electric permission to carry on with its electricity delivery activities in Uthal, Bela, Vinder, Hub, Dhabeji, and Gharo.
