The saying “Be careful what you wish for” took on a whole new meaning when an angry Patrick Mahomes stormed through the Kansas City Chiefs locker room following the team’s 27–24 divisional round victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in Orchard Park.
The Chiefs quarterback informed his teammates, “They asked for it, and they got what they asked for.” “This s–t ain’t done, he said. Next week, we’re ready to f–king go when we return.”
This will be Mahomes’ second-ever road postseason game as the Chiefs take on the Ravens in Sunday’s American Football Conference (AFC) Championship game in Baltimore.
One of the league’s greatest rivalries was stoked before Sunday’s game by Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins, who said that Mahomes, 28, hasn’t really experienced Bills Mafia.
“This is Mahomes’ only visit to this place. He’s never been here, then. As easy as that,” Dawkins remarked, via ESPN. “Pat has never visited the Bills stadium in its entirety. Although we can’t assume that the stadium will work in our advantage, the environment will be different.”
“I don’t care what nobody says,” he continued. I have never felt a more dope feeling than I do now. We have two consecutive home playoff games.
Come on, act like we’re about to head out and grab some wings. It’s awesome. So, best of luck.
With their 16th postseason touchdown on Sunday, Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce surpassed Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski for the record number of playoff touchdowns ever.
Even with Sunday’s snowfall, Mahomes was complimentary about the state of the roads even if at the end of the game, snowballs were thrown in his direction.
Mahomes remarked, “Man, this is a great environment, first of all.” It is, in fact. We’re here to make a statement and demonstrate that we can play anyplace, because we’ve heard all week about taking a road game.
