Shehbaz Sharif, President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has stated that independent candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) can form a government at the Centre if they secure the necessary number of seats in the National Assembly.
“If PTI-sponsored candidates gain a majority [in the National Assembly], they are welcome to form a government,” he stated during a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The PML-N president stated that his party is prepared to sit in opposition if PTI-backed candidates gain a majority in the lower house of parliament.
“We will accept them [PTI government] happily if they fail to [form government] then we will use our Constitutional and legal right,” the leader of the PML-N remarked.
