ISLAMABAD The chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) appointed Punjab election tribunals to resolve electoral issues. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chastised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday for trying to alter these tribunals.
PTI leader Barrister Salman Akram Raja, speaking at a press conference, claimed that the general elections on February 8 will never be forgotten by Pakistanis and that the worst kind of election manipulation had occurred.
After losing his race from NA-128 Lahore, Raja claimed that the chief judge of the LHC had created electoral tribunals across Punjab, but they were not permitted to hold their regular sessions.
But, he said, the electoral tribunals in the other provinces operated in accordance with the roster that the corresponding chief justices had supplied. He declared, “They [the government] fear the most in Punjab,” asserting that’many bridges’ will crumble should the tribunals, which are to hear the issues, be selected by the chief justice of the LHC.
Furthermore, according to the PTI leader, “Pakistan’s enemy” is the one who drives a wedge between the populace and institutions.
