ISLAMABAD: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), due to its long-standing fraternal relations with Pakistan, has created a gift scheme that would distribute high-quality dates equivalent to 30,000 individual gifts to individuals throughout the holy month of Ramadan, The News reported on Sunday.
The program, titled “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Gift Programme,” was launched at the Saudi embassy in Islamabad by Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malkyi, religious attache Yahya Sufiani, and other officials.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Maliki emphasized that the scheme, which would also see high-quality dates delivered in Pakistan and other countries, was initiated on the orders of King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz.
The programme’s implementation follows the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, Sheikh Dr Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh.
“This programme distributes 10 tonnes of premium dates, amounting to 30,000 individual gifts,” the ambassador said, adding that the gifts reflect the two countries’ peoples’ generosity and fraternal relations.
The news comes a day after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, often known as MBS, reaffirmed the kingdom’s support for Pakistan during a celebratory phone call with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after taking office.
