Tuesday, a federal judge in New York placed the musician back under arrest on the basis of the prosecution’s claim that he posed a “serious flight risk.”
Prosecutors claim that Mr. Combs, 54, was involved in a drug- and violence-fueled criminal operation that began at least in 2008 and used coercion to get women to “fulfill his sexual desires” until he was detained this week.
The accusations made against Sean “Diddy” Combs clarified
The attorneys representing Mr. Combs were pushing for a bail package that included a $50 million bond that would have avoided going to jail and was co-signed by Mr. Combs, his mother, and other family members.
However, the judge who heard the arguments on Wednesday rejected the suggestion.
Judge Andrew Carter stated, “My bigger concern is the danger of witness tampering and obstruction of justice.” “I have a serious concern about that right now.”
Following the decision, Marc Agnifilo, the attorney for Mr. Combs, informed reporters that the decision “did not go our way” and that “the fight continues.”
Mr. Combs is accused of racketeering, forced sex trafficking, and prostitution transportation in a 14-page indictment.
The rapper and record producer may spend up to 15 years in jail if found guilty on all three counts.
