Family sources reported on Saturday that Justice (retd) Rasheed A Razvi, a prominent Pakistani jurist and former judge, passed away in Karachi at the age of 76 following an illness.
According to the sources, Razvi was being treated in a Karachi private hospital. On Sunday (today), an imam bargah at the Defence Housing Authority will offer his funeral prayer.
Throughout his distinguished career, Razvi held positions as president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) in addition to being a seasoned attorney and retired judge.
Born in Bombay, India, in December 1947, Razvi moved to Karachi, Pakistan, in 1956 together with his family as a young man. He was born, reared, and educated in Karachi. In 1973, he began practicing law.
In addition to holding the position of judge on the Sindh High Court, the senior advocate practiced law in hundreds of cases before the Supreme Court and the high court.
In addition, he was an active member of the Pakistan Bar Council and held a number of roles within the nation’s bar associations and bar councils.
