Arrest After Child Injured in Crocodile Enclosure at UK Zoo A three year old boy is in a critical but stable condition after suffering serious injuries at a crocodile enclosure at Johnson’s of Old Hurst near Huntingdon. Police have arrested a 30 year old man from Norfolk on suspicion of attempted murder. Cambridgeshire Police were called to the zoo at around 13:24 BST after the incident was reported. Officers said the man and child are not believed to know each other. Incident at Johnson’s of Old Hurst The incident happened inside the zoo’s tropical area, where crocodiles are kept in a converted cattle barn. The enclosure includes fenced walkways above water and planted areas for the animals. Police are still working to understand how the child ended up inside the restricted enclosure. Officers are speaking with witnesses who were present at the time. Child Receiving Hospital Treatment Emergency services took the boy to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Doctors confirmed that his condition remains critical but stable. Police said they are supporting the child’s family during this difficult time. Investigators are also examining whether the boy was directly attacked by the animals inside the enclosure. Arrest and Ongoing Investigation A 30 year old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after the incident. He remains in custody while inquiries continue. Detective Inspector Verity McCann said officers are gathering statements from people who were at the zoo. She confirmed that the investigation is being treated as a critical incident. He also asked the public to avoid sharing speculation online while the investigation continues. The zoo said its Tropical House will stay closed until further notice. Other areas of the site remain open.
