As the rain-producing system enters the country through Balochistan, many sections of Pakistan are expected to experience severe rains and windstorms, with authorities warning against traveling on interprovincial highways.
On Sunday, a westerly system brought strong dusty winds to Chaman and its surroundings. Meanwhile, a windstorm hit localities such as Qilla Abdullah, Jangle Pir Alizai, Saranan, Pishin, and others.
As a result, movement along Chaman Road was hampered.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) urged citizens to avoid “unnecessary travel” on interprovincial highways tonight (Sunday), noting the prediction of severe rain, hailstorms, and snow.
According to the travel alert, snowfall is anticipated to impact the N-50, which connects Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The NHA’s North general manager said that emergency camps have been established on the thoroughfares passing through upper areas in Balochistan, while the presence of heavy machinery to clear the ways has been ensured at the Kozak Top, N-25, Chaman, and other areas.
Moreover, relief and rescue teams remain on standby at the Kan Mehtarzai Camp.
