The Czech Constitutional Court rejected an Indian man’s request to be spared from extradition to the United States on charges of plotting to kill an American citizen in New York.
The US government has charged Nikhil Gupta with attempting to hire a hitman to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Sikh separatist leader located in the United States.
Mr Gupta is imprisoned in Prague. The country’s justice minister will make the final decision over his extradition.
The charges against Mr Gupta entail a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail.
In November 2023, US authorities charged Mr. Gupta with plotting to assassinate at least four Sikh separatists in North America, including Mr. Pannun.
