The Thornaby FC committee, based in Teesside, made a controversial decision that has caused more than 100 women and girls to lose their football club.

The club’s Under-7s, U8s, U10s, U11s, U15s, and women’s teams will be lost, the women’s section announced on Facebook.

“This leaves over 100 girls without a club,” they stated.

“We are are all devastated to hear of the Thornaby FC decision and would like to thank the members of the club who voted to keep female football.”
Ms. Mead, who was raised in North Yorkshire not far from Whitby, claimed the girls deserved better.

“I’m shocked to see this choice,” the forward for Arsenal and England commented on news. “The women’s game is getting better, but committees are still making these awful decisions.”

“These little girls should have better; it’s not good enough. To keep the team motivated, I would love to send them an autographed England shirt.”

She continued: “If I can help with anything do reach out, us women need to stick together.”

“This is incredible.”

Aston Villa’s Maz Pacheco, a defender in the Women’s Super League, posted on the news, saying, “This has blown my mind… How come you can just take out your club’s entire women’s and girls section?

Ben Houchen, the mayor of Tees Valley, likewise voiced his “outrage” at the choice, attributing it to a “mindset from the 1970s.”
