Both nations will collaborate to develop “robust” techniques for assessing the security of artificial intelligence (AI) products and the systems that support them, according to the agreement inked on Monday.
This is the first such bilateral agreement.
According to UK Tech Minister Michelle Donelan, it’s “the defining technology challenge of our generation.”.
“We have always been clear that ensuring the safe development of AI is a shared global issue,” she stated.
We can only fully utilize the technology’s immense promise to make everyone’s life easier and healthier by banding together to confront its threats.
The agreement, according to the secretary of state for science, innovation, and technology, expands on promises made at the AI Safety Summit, which took place in November 2023 at Bletchley Park.
