The 46-year-old gave Jenni Hermoso a kiss on the lips after Spain defeated England 1-0 in Sydney in August of last year.
The 34-year-old Hermoso has stated in court that the kiss was not consenting.
As a result of his purported conduct following the kiss, Rubiales is charged with one count of compulsion and one of sexual assault.
The sentences for the offenses are one year and eighteen months in jail, respectively.
The High Court of Spain declared that it would also put former women’s team coach Jorge Vilda, current sporting director Albert Luque, and head of marketing for the Spanish football association Ruben Rivera on trial.
