Mr Streeting told the PA news agency that the people who attacked them “brought enormous shame on our country”.
According to reports, the taxi they were in was hit with rocks, leaving them “terrified” but physically unhurt, according to the Mirror.
Mr Streeting stated that he will not tolerate any intimidation, harassment, or racist abuse directed at NHS or social care staff in any health or care setting.
We have a zero-tolerance policy in the NHS, and we will take the same approach in social care.
People who abuse NHS personnel can and should be turned away if they continue to treat our colleagues in this manner.
