While the TikTok bill languishes in the US Senate, Vice President Kamala Harris has provided some insight into what Joe Biden’s administration might do with the video-sharing app that is owned by the Chinese corporation ByteDance.

According to HuffPost, the House of Representatives voted 352-65 in favor of a plan that would result in a nationwide ban on TikTok earlier this month.

If the law makes it through the Senate, President Joe Biden has stated he plans to sign it.

Harris asserts that the Biden administration does not want to ban the app, despite the fact that people fear it.

“We don’t plan to outlaw TikTok. That’s not the aim or objective of this discussion at all,” Harris stated in a News interview. “We need to deal with the owner, and we have national security concerns about the owner of TikTok, but we have no intention to ban TikTok.”

She emphasized that the administration is aware that the app serves as “an income generator for many people due to its ability to facilitate free information sharing and discourse among users.” It’s crucial.”

Over 170 million people use TikTok in the US, and its creator economy has helped build an industry valued at over $250 billion, according to HuffPost. The legislation would forbid “foreign adversary controlled applications, such as TikTok and any successor application or service and any other application or service developed or provided by ByteDance Ltd or an entity under the control of ByteDance Ltd” .
