At a baseball game, Ingrid Andress sang a version that was greatly criticized and caused gasps from the audience after one particularly wobbly high note.
Soon after she announced that she will be opening the performance at Monday’s Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas, folks took to social media to express their disbelief.
Sports Illustrated reporter Alex Carr stated on X, “I’m so sorry, I’m sure Ingrid Andress is a wonderful person, but that was one of the worst national anthems I think I’ve ever heard in my whole life.”
“When your mother misled you and claimed you were an amazing vocalist,” read one of the top comments on it.
The 32-year-old quickly apologized on Instagram, writing, “Last night, I was intoxicated. I won’t BS on you. To acquire the assistance I require, I’m checking myself into a facility today.
“Last night, that was not me. I really apologize for that performance to the MLB, all of the fans, and this wonderful country. I’ll update you on my experience in rehab; I’ve heard it’s a lot of fun.
