After complaining of a bad headache, the 79-year-old was transported to a hospital in Brasília, the capital, on Monday.
Lula was taken to the famous Sírio-Libanês hospital in São Paulo to have the bleed drained after an MRI scan showed it.
According to the hospital statement, he suffered a blow to the head when he fell in his bathroom at the presidential home in October, which resulted in the cerebral hemorrhage.
In order to manage the bleeding and ease the pressure, doctors stated they had done a craniotomy on the president, which involves surgically removing a portion of the skull’s bone. After that, the bone is swapped out.
