WASHINGTON: Just hours after regaining the presidency on Monday, Donald Trump acted quickly to force his way on the US government by pardoning almost 1,500 of his followers who invaded the US Capitol four years ago.
Following a day of festivities, Trump issued a number of executive orders to reduce immigration, repeal environmental laws, and rescind programs promoting gender and ethnic diversity. Although he stated that he may impose 25% taxes on Canada and Mexico on February 1, he did not immediately implement his campaign pledge to boost tariffs.
Police, senators, and others whose lives were in danger during a historic chapter in modern US history will undoubtedly be incensed by his decision to pardon supporters who invaded the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
