KYIV/MOSCOW/WASHINGTON: According to statements made by US President Donald Trump, he thinks Russian President Vladimir Putin is now open to ending the conflict in Ukraine.
The US president stated that peace will likely require another meeting, this time with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the table, just one day before his much anticipated summit with the Russian leader in Alaska tomorrow.
Trump’s comments coincide with the Ukrainian leader and his European allies stepping up their efforts this week to guard against any agreement between the United States and Russia that may leave Ukraine open to future attacks following Friday’s summit in Alaska.
