Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told the National Assembly that the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) lost Rs4.1 billion as a result of Pakistan’s airspace being closed to India earlier this year, but he underlined that preserving national sovereignty always comes before economic concerns.
Airspace is off-limits to Indian aircraft.
The defense minister stated in a written response during Question Hour of the National Assembly that all Indian aircraft were not permitted to fly in Pakistani airspace between April 24 and June 30, 2025. The decision was made in relation to the ‘Marka-e-Haq’, a time when tensions between the two nations were at their highest and Pakistan experienced some financial losses.
