Trump Returns to Campaign Trail
On Sunday, the Republican president will go to Iowa and Kansas for consecutive campaign rallies. Trump said that when both events were postponed due to several telerallies, “my friends” in those states called him and “they said, ‘if you can go, you would be better than a telerally.'”
As Americans actively participate in early voting, the last-minute reversal occurs. An Associated Press examination of voting statistics shows that five days prior to Election Day, about 10 million more Americans had cast ballots than at the same time in 2022.
As they battle for control of Congress in an election that has mostly focused on concerns of affordability and the president’s unpopularity, both Democrats and Republicans hope the rise works in their favor.
Trump has hosted 25 of his hallmark rallies so far in October, fulfilling his commitment at the beginning of the month to support Republican candidates. He was scheduled to host a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday nite.
On Thursday, the president vehemently denied that his Kansas event had been canceled in the first place.
Trump Changes Campaign Rally Plans
Trump was originally scheduled to visit Salina, Kansas, on Saturday, and Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday. Then, according to the Republican National Committee, the plans changed so that he would instead do a “72-hour sprint” of phone rallies in order to reach more people throughout the country.
On Friday, the president’s itinerary was still up in the air. According to a person involved with the planning who spoke on condition of anonymity, his Iowa speech was rescheduled from Dubuque to Cedar Rapids, only for plans to change back to Dubuque hours later.
Trump’s candidacy was later confirmed by the Republican National Committee.
Trump Backs Senate Candidates in Battleground States
Battleground Senate contests in Iowa and Kansas will determine whether Republicans maintain their slim majority in the chamber during the midterm elections.

Trump has previously visited both states this month to support Republican Iowa Senate candidate Ashley Hinson, who is already a member of the House, and Marshall in Kansas.
Marshall is “fantastic,” Trump said to a Kansas City radio station on Friday, praising the senator for pressuring his administration to adopt measures that would help Kansas farmers.
Early Voting Surges Across States
Millions more Americans are casting ballots ahead of time, greatly surpassing the last midterm election.
More than 6.3 million Texans have cast early ballots as of Wednesday, a 50% increase from 4.2 million at the same time four years prior in Texas, where voters are making decisions in the highly anticipated Senate, House, and governor’s contests.
Additionally, in states with competitive Senate elections like Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, and Kansas, advance voting has climbed by more than 30% since the same period four years ago. Voters in South Carolina are selecting a replacement for the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
Michigan Democrats Face Primary Fallout
After progressive Abdul El-Sayed narrowly beat Rep. Haley Stevens in August, Michigan Democrats wanted to move past a painful Senate race.
As Election Day draws near, they’ve had no such luck.
In the last week leading up to the general election, Stevens reappeared on CNN, reiterating her support for El-Sayed and urging him to mend fences with Black and Jewish voters. She made her appearance just hours after her fiancé declared he would support Mike Rogers, El-Sayed’s Republican opponent.
Stevens Renews Criticism of El Sayed
Then, on Friday, following her agreement to run with El-Sayed and South Carolina Representative Jim Clyburn in Detroit on Sunday, Stevens posted a long social media message denouncing her erstwhile opponent once more.
She urged him to address concerns over his previous comments and denounce an advertising that connected rising supermarket costs to American support for Israel.Stevens stated, “Abdul pledges to remove money from politics.”He may start by removing Israel from his justification for all of Michigan’s financial difficulties.
In an effort to bring Democrats together, El-Sayed has expressed regret for some of his previous remarks.
