Classic singer Huey Lewis is “very excited” to be a part of the much awaited April 22 Broadway opening of The Heart of Rock and Roll.
The seasoned performer discussed his next project and referred to it as his “salvation” in an interview with People magazine.
“I can’t sing or perform because I lost my hearing seven years ago, but I can do this,” he remarked. And, my goodness, it has been incredibly fulfilling and has saved my life.
The well-known singer added, “We’ve been working as a group for almost a decade now on this, and very excited to see it all come together,” highlighting the tremendous teamwork a musical demands even though it is “rewarding.”
In 2018, Lewis was diagnosed with Meniere’s disease, an inner ear disorder that causes vertigo and hearing loss. In addition to harming Lewis’s personal life, the health change prevented him from performing or singing, which hurt his career.
But Lewis finds that the program that follows Bobby and Cassandra as they support one another while pursuing their dreams ends up being a bright light.
