When Jerome Powell was promoted by Trump to head the Federal Reserve in 2018, he almost immediately came under criticism. He was called a bonehead on social media and asked about rumors that the president wanted him fired.
Powell may have felt uneasy at the time, but things have only gotten worse for him.
In addition to managing a rapidly expanding recession risk economy, Trump has been openly teasing his dismissal, posting on social media last week that “Powell’s termination cannot come fast enough!”
