Delhi has quickly refuted US President Donald Trump’s assertion that India has offered to remove all tariffs on goods imported from his nation.
India’s foreign minister, S Jaishankar, refuted the assertion in a statement to regional news outlets, stating that “nothing is decided till everything is” and that negotiations are still ongoing.
Trump’s remarks to reporters earlier in the day declaring that Delhi had “offered us a deal where basically they are willing to literally charge us no tariff” stand in sharp contrast to this declaration.
A trade agreement is presently being negotiated between the US and India.
