DUBLIN: In the first Twenty20 International of the three-match series, Ireland defeated Pakistan by 11 runs on Wednesday at Clontarf Cricket Club thanks to a standout all-around effort from Orla Prendergast, who scored 29 runs and claimed three wickets.
Despite an encouraging performance from the middle order, Pakistan failed to meet their target of 143, managing only 131 for 9 in 20 overs.
Rameen Shamim contributed a 20-ball 27 and Natalia Pervaiz top-scored for the visitors with a quick 39 from 23 balls, but the remainder of the batting order was unable to provide consistent opposition.
In addition to them are captain Fatima Sana, Aliya Riaz, and top-order batsman Sidra Amin (15).
