On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Pakistan’s yearly population growth rate of 2.55% as a concerning trend that calls for prompt and concerted national policy action to address.
According to a news release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister presided over a high-level meeting at the office to discuss potential solutions to the problems caused by Pakistan’s growing population.
“We need comprehensive planning to ensure our growing population, especially the youth, becomes a productive part of the economy,” he stated. “A large segment of our population comprises young people, who are the most valuable asset for our country.”
