KARACHI—The News reported that Khawaja Asif, a veteran politician of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), called the sharp increase in parliamentary officeholders’ salaries and bonuses “financial obscenity” on Wednesday.
“The huge increase in the salaries and financial benefits of the speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly, as well as the chairperson and deputy chairperson of the Senate, falls under the category of financial obscenity,” the defense minister wrote on X.
