QUETTA/KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported on Thursday that since June 1, Karachi has seen extraordinary seismic activity, with 36 mild earthquakes registered thus far as a result of the Landhi fault line activating.
With a magnitude of 2.6 and a depth of 10 kilometers, the most recent earthquake occurred at 1:45 am today, with its epicentre situated 8 km southeast of Malir.
All 36 of the earthquakes in this seismic swarm in the port city were modest in magnitude, according to PMD authorities, who also noted that there had been other earthquakes registered throughout Pakistan.
The same day, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8 was recorded close to Quetta, causing discomfort for locals.
