LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned Thursday that the current heatwave is expected to last for another 24 hours, with temperatures possibly rising by an additional 7°C. Temperatures in Lahore reached as high as 50 degrees Celsius, with the heat intensity reaching a scorching 60°C.
According to the Meteorological Department, the heatwave that has been affecting Lahore is still running strong, with temperatures reaching 44°C and heat intensity reaching 47°C. The actual felt temperature, according to officials, was as high as 50°C, with intensity levels as high as 60°C.
According to meteorologists, the severe weather was caused by a protracted dry spell that lasted from May to June.
