Washington: The White House said Thursday that President Donald Trump would decide within the next two weeks whether the United States will intervene in the Israel-Iran air war, putting more pressure on Tehran to engage in negotiations.
“Based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, quoting a statement from Trump.
By shifting from urging a quick diplomatic settlement to implying that the US would join the conflict on Israel’s side, the Republican president has left the world wondering what his plans are.
