26 opposition members who were suspended for disruptive behavior in the Punjab Assembly are to be removed through legal action.
According to sources on Tuesday, the Punjab Law Department and the Speaker’s Office have started discussing the issue. The administration of the Punjab Assembly has acknowledged that legal and constitutional grounds for removing the suspended MPs’ membership are being considered.
In order to direct its actions, the speaker’s office is also examining pertinent court decisions. According to sources, a ruling in the case against Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, rendered by former Pakistani Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, is being cited. This ruling was based on party line violations.
