Yuki Kinoshita and Noah Silverman, co-founders of Plufl, presented their “dog beds for humans” concept to Shark Tank in 2022. They intended to manufacture the luscious, cuddly memory foam beds in China and sell them for $299 at retail in the United States.
Together, Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner financed $200,000 for 20% of the business, which sold mattresses on Amazon and their own website and generated over $1 million in sales in 2023.
Kinoshita and Silverman jumped into action after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed a 145% duty on Chinese imports in April, asking shops whether they would be interested in carrying a U.S.-made version of their human dog beds.
