India has conducted several tests of its Pralay missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha, a move that is likely to escalate regional tensions, security sources reported on Wednesday.
The security sources claimed that Pakistan possessed the Nasr (Hatf-IX) missile, which can carry a nuclear payload and could neutralize the threat presented by India, and that the tests were part of a plot to start an arms race and war.
According to the security authorities, the Nasr missile’s characteristics make it useful against an enemy’s initial strike.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) reported on India’s Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO).
