In a significant policy change prompted by his dissatisfaction with Moscow, US President Donald Trump announced fresh weapons for Ukraine on Monday and warned to impose sanctions on purchasers of Russian commodities unless Russia commits to a peace settlement within 50 days.
Trump expressed his disappointment in Russian President Vladimir Putin to reporters while seated next to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office. He stated Ukraine would receive weaponry worth billions of dollars.
According to Trump, “We’re going to make top-of-the-line weapons, and they’ll be sent to NATO,” with Washington’s NATO allies covering the cost.
Patriot air defense missiles, which Ukraine has desperately sought to protect its cities from Russian air attacks, would be among the armaments.
