ISLAMABAD According to sources who spoke to Geo News on Thursday, the foreign ministers of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will have trilateral discussions in Kabul on August 20.
Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will all attend the meeting.
Discussions on counterterrorism initiatives and the growth of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be on the agenda, according to the sources.
Amir Khan Muttaqi, the interim foreign minister of Afghanistan, was supposed to travel to Pakistan on August 5 earlier this month. Both nations, however, eventually released statements explaining the cancellation for “technical” reasons.
It has since come to light that the visit was not authorized by the UN Security Council.
