A case contesting the province’s mobile phone and internet service suspension was accepted for consideration by the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
Citing security concerns, authorities blocked mobile internet services in the majority of Balochistan’s districts on August 6, including Quetta, the province capital. The suspension is anticipated to last until August 31.
The Consumer Civil Society of Balochistan filed the appeal, claiming that the disruption has negatively impacted online learning, impeded commercial operations, and made it difficult for travelers to communicate.
On August 15, the court summoned representatives from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the provincial home department after accepting the petition for hearing.
