Emir Sirajul Haq of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) emphasized the importance of a strong democracy Thursday.
During a press conference in Lahore, Haq stated, “There exists such a democracy in the country where decisions are made first and elections are held later.”
He mentioned the recent elections, adding, “Even now, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has not managed to provide clarification over the delay in the poll results.”
“Though Shehbaz Sharif has not taken the oath as the country’s prime minister, But he [Shehbaz Sharif] is still saying that the country has no option but to approach the International Monetary Fund (IMF).”
She described the elections as “fraud,” claiming that “even the recently held elections were based on rigging, just like the previous elections.”
All political parties should play a role in strengthening democracy.
On Tuesday, Haq stated that all political parties should work together to uphold the constitution and advance democracy.
Haq lamented that the election results were organized based on mathematical calculations rather than vote counts.
“Why was the joke told to the nation if holding elections was all about selection? We will take every conceivable step to reveal election manipulation.
According to Haq, “The next administration established as a result of the rigging will be unable to solve the needs of the public.
