With so many hospitals in Gaza now closed or nearing collapse, medical professionals have resorted to setting up makeshift treatment tents on the streets using whatever supplies they can find.
Dr. Rajaa Okashah is a pediatrician from northern Gaza who had to relocate to Rafah in the south due to conflict.
The only things that keep him going are his professional commitment to medicine and his sense of obligation to his fellow Gazans. Now, his surgery is a makeshift street clinic inside a camp for refugees.
“I decided to open this medical tent to provide them with medicines and treatment for free, especially as the health system in Gaza now lacks hospitals, lacks health centres,” Dr. Okashah stated to News.
“The camp’s circumstances are almost disastrous. Food is unclean, people drink saline water since fresh water is scarce, and children’s weakened immune systems make it dangerously common for viruses and germs to infect them.
