RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed a group of terrorists attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on Saturday, as Islamabad’s fight against extremists continues.
According to the ISPR, military troops intercepted a “movement of five terrorists” attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghan border near Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) North Waziristan district.
Following an extensive fire exchange, the forces immediately launched an operation and killed two terrorists, Hazrat Umer and Rehman Niaz, while injuring three others.
On March 8, four terrorists were neutralised in an intelligence-based operation, while four more were slain in a sanitization operation.
From March 8 to 9, security officers in the tribal district killed ten militants.
“Pakistan has consistently been asking interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border,” a statement from the military’s media department stated.
The army urged the neighbouring country to “fulfill its obligations and deny terrorists the use of Afghan soil to perpetuate acts of terrorism against Pakistan.”
Pakistan’s security forces are dedicated and committed to securing its borders and eliminating the threat of terrorism from the country, the statement ended.
