Big artists who release and sell vinyl albums in an attempt to boost sales have come under fire from Billie Eilish for this unsustainable practice.
In a Billboard interview, the Bad Guy singer chastised other musicians for releasing multiple vinyl and CD versions.
“For some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging, which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more,” the 22-year-old youngest Oscar winner said in an interview that was published on Thursday.
“I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is,” she let out.
She stated, “And then it’s some of the biggest artists in the industry,” lamenting the rat race-driven urge to become a bestseller.Eilish contributed to the funding of REVERB’s Music Decarbonization Project in 2023, which aims to eradicate carbon emissions originating from the music industry.
