An illegal immigrant charged with a “horrific” child sex crime was detained by ICE after being freed by the police.

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an illegal immigrant from Colombia has been taken into custody on charges of sexually assaulting a juvenile in Massachusetts. ICE requested that the subject be held, but local officials apprehended him and then released him.

After entering the nation illegally and receiving a court appearance notice, the unidentified Colombian was captured by Border Patrol in July 2022. He was also registered for the ATD program, which offers alternatives to jail.

According to ICE, he was charged with rape, indecent assault, and battery of a juvenile over 14 after being taken into custody in Lynn, Massachusetts, in January. He was arraigned in court on January 29. The Immigration and Removal Operations (ERO) of ICE filed an immigration detainer in Lynn District Court right away.
