ISLAMABAD: The federal government has authorized the deployment of Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces (CAF) personnel in response to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) request for stringent security measures during the nation’s by-elections.
The armed forces would be used by the government as a rapid response force. In this regard, an order has been issued by the Ministry of Interior.
According to the announcement, elements of the Pakistan Army and the CAF would be utilized as the second and third levels of security, and they would be accessible in 21 constituencies starting now and continuing through April 22.
“The ECP would determine the precise troop strength, deployment date and duration, deployment area, and deployment mode based on ground requirements and assessments after consulting with all relevant stakeholders.”
