After being attacked by a lethal leopard and suffering injuries, former Zimbabwean all-rounder Guy Whittall had emergency surgery at Milton Park Hospital in Harare.
The wild beast assaulted Whittall, who played for Zimbabwe in 46 Test matches and 147 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) between 1993 and 2003, while he was trekking in the reserve he owns in the Humani district, according to accounts from the local media.
The stories went on to say that the 51-year-old was accompanied by his devoted dog, Chikara, who was slightly hurt in the process of attempting to save him.
Whittall woke up to see an eight-foot-five, 165-kg Nile crocodile lying directly under his bed, marking the event that transpired after nearly 11 years.
