After much controversy surrounding the conclusion of her cherished daily program, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen DeGeneres has finally spoken out.
On April 24, the TV personality said that it was the final performance of her stand-up comedy tour before calling it a day.
The program first ended in May 2022 when the TV host apologized and a Buzzfeed piece surfaced, exposing accusations of bigotry, sexual misconduct, and intimidation.
Ellen stated, “I just hated the way the show ended,” indicating that she hasn’t seemed to let go of the abrupt ending of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and that she chose to give a conclusion untarnished by the public’s unfavorable opinion of her.
“I just hated that the last time people would see me was that way, even though I love that show so much.”
However, the 66-year-old resorted to humor to talk about her “hurtful” history. She recalled being “kicked out of show business” for being “mean” and acknowledged that she had become the “persona non grata.”
