It’s the morning following the shocking announcement by SNP leader and Scotland’s first minister Humza Yousaf that he would be leaving his position after just over a year in office.
Following his decision to end the Bute House Agreement with the Scottish Greens, Mr. Yousaf faced two votes of no confidence in the Scottish parliament.
Mr. Yousaf plans to stay in the positions until the announcement of his replacement. Nominations for the SNP are now being accepted; they must be submitted by Monday, May 6 at noon.
The SNP suffered a great deal during last year’s fiercely contested leadership race to succeed former first minister Nicola Sturgeon, as candidates Mr. Yousaf, Kate Forbes, and Ash Regan sparred on live television.
