Significantly, PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan announced on Monday that his party informed the US ambassador to Pakistan that foreign meddling in Pakistan’s domestic affairs will not be tolerated.
The announcement was made following a meeting in the nation’s capital between the US envoy Donald Blome and a four-member PTI team led by Omar and consisting of party chairman Gohar Ali Khan, Asad Qaiser, and Raoof Hasan.
The PTI leader stated that the meeting was requested by the US ambassador via the Foreign Office, and that a political officer was also present.
It is important to note that Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, previously accused Washington of toppling his government in April 2022. Khan was removed from office following the failure of a no-confidence motion that thePTI founder alleged engineered by the US by colluding with the then opposition parties.
Less than a month before he was removed from office in April 2022, on March 27, 2022, Khan waved a letter in front of the audience during a public rally. He claimed that the letter was a cipher from a foreign country that had plotted with his political rivals to overthrow the PTI government. This was the first instance of the cipher controversy.
In a meeting with Asad Majeed, the Pakistani ambassador to the US at the time, he claimed that Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Affairs Donald Lu had requested his dismissal.
