Rehana Dar, the mother of Usman Dar, was briefly detained by the police on Thursday in Sialkot, according to her son.
The arrest occurs at the same time that the party founded by Imran Khan issued a call for protests to commemorate the anniversary of the Mary 9 mayhem.
Umar asserted that the police had taken his mother and other PTI women supporters on the “directives of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif,” confirming the report of their brief imprisonment.
“My mother called for a protest on May 9,” Umar stated, mentioning that the police had encircled Jinnah House in Sialkot since the early hours of the day.
However, the claims of Rehana’s arrest were refuted by the police. “Rehana Dar and Ruba Dar were not arrested,” stated DPO Hassan Iqbal. The two female leaders are at their residence.
The Dar family has already leveled accusations about the minister of defense. Rehana said in December of last year that she was abused and mistreated at her Sialkot home by the Punjab police, acting at Asif’s request.
“They [police] raided my house on Khawaja Asif’s orders,” the woman had claimed. To stop me from running in the general elections on February 8, they manhandled and tore my clothes.”
