As the United States’ two most potent adversaries, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have allied themselves against the US, promising to usher in a “new era” of cooperation.
Days before sending thousands of troops to Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Beijing in February 2022, and the two countries announced a “no limits” alliance as a show of unity against their western adversary.
According to Reuters, on Thursday, Xi and Putin were greeted by People’s Liberation Army soldiers who were parading past the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. They were also given a 21-gun salute on Tiananmen Square.
